| Enrichment of Current Public Service Programming in Television & Radio Current efforts to provide broadcasting in the public interest has brought forth what we know as public service announcements (PSA). They are presented in fulfillment of Federal Communications Commission rules that designate broadcasting corporations as Trustees of the airwaves. The subjects depicted in these public service announcements are of help to many groups of Americans, such as, young families seeking parenting skills. Or, help can be directed to runaways, wherein a PSA presents Nicholas Cage encouraging runaways to call Boystown. In another PSA, veteran's are directed to local service groups and the Veteran's Administration, while the families of active duty troops are directed to the Red Cross for help. Topics can bein the areas of: Jobs, Legal Aid, Shelter, Health, Disabilities, Mentoring, Pregnancy, After School Programs, Mental Illness, Food Assistance, Drugs and drug counseling, and a host of other caregiver related topics. Cable television, radio, and broadcast television, including public broadcasting, enlarge the scope of public awareness of community help programs by featuring editorials, news coverage, and special presentation programming that explains the role of these programs and who they serve. Niches of need exist within social groupings whether they be seniors, veterans, families, teens, women, children or men, at all social and economic levels. Information that addresses these needs is infused into the American media infrastructure through new innovative, MediaSafe projects, conducted in co-operation with local media. MediaSafe has benefited from partnered projects through Christian radio stations and AT&T Broadband, and applauds Tribune Broadcasting, as well as, many other broadcast corporations that provide reasoned and committed approachesto public interest and public service programming.
